VISAS & ENTRY

Getting into China

Do I need a visa to visit China?
It depends on your passport. China maintains unilateral visa-free entry for many European, Asia-Pacific and Latin American passports, typically 30 days per entry, plus a 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit for travellers connecting through China to a third destination. Where a visa is required, MEIAN supplies the invitation letter, hotel confirmations and a document checklist, and confirms the current rule for your nationality before you apply.
How does the 240-hour visa-free transit work?
The 240-hour (10-day) transit lets eligible nationals enter China without a visa while connecting between two different international destinations. It is not a visa: the onward connection must be genuine and your travel must stay within the permitted region. MEIAN plans itineraries that fit inside the window, confirms which airports and ports honour it for your route, and prepares the onward-ticket and hotel documents the immigration officer may ask for.
Can you write the invitation letter for my visa application?
Yes — invitation letter, hotel confirmations covering every night of the plan, and a document checklist matched to your nationality and consulate. We also confirm the current rule before you apply, because entry policies have been changing frequently and last year's notes are not a safe source.
BESPOKE & BOOKING

How a bespoke agency works

One designer, one document, rewritten until it fits your party.

What is a bespoke China tour, and how is it different from a group package?
A bespoke tour is designed for one party only. A MEIAN designer interviews the travellers, then writes a single itinerary document covering every ground day, which is rewritten until it fits your dates, pace and interests. There are no tour buses with strangers, no forced shopping stops and no fixed departure dates. Group packages sell seats; MEIAN sells the itinerary.
Who is MEIAN and are you licensed?
Guangzhou MEIAN International Travel Agency Co., Ltd. is a licensed Chinese travel agency, Travel Agency Business Licence L-GD02116, registered and taxed in Guangzhou with full travel-agency liability insurance. We specialise in inbound bespoke travel: foreign travellers visiting China, one itinerary per traveller.
How do I start planning, and how fast do you reply?
Call or message +86 181 0276 0252 (weekdays 09:00–21:00 China time), email guanfu@meiantour.cn, or use the enquiry form on this page. The first consultation is free and an outline itinerary arrives within 48 hours.
Do you help with hotel and train bookings even outside a full tour?
Our core product is the complete ground arrangement, but hotel selection with our own inspection notes, domestic rail and flight bookings, timed museum reservations and airport transfers can all be arranged as part of your plan. Everything lands in one document with addresses written in Chinese for taxi use.
COSTS

What it costs, plainly

How much does a private China tour cost?
Quoted per party, not per seat, because the number depends on how many people travel, the hotel grade, the season and how many specialist guides you want. MEIAN will not guess a per-person price on a screen — send your dates and party size and we send a real quote.
What is included, and what is extra?
Included in every itinerary: private car and licensed driver, English-speaking guide or butler, hotels, all named tickets and timed museum reservations, transfers, domestic rail and flight bookings, and a 7×24 English emergency line. Priced separately, never hidden: international flights (we can price and book them), visa fees, most meals, required travel insurance, and tips, which are optional in China.
Why won't you publish a per-person price like the package sites?
Because an honest number cannot exist before we know the party. The same eight-day route costs something different for two adults in four-star hotels in shoulder season than for a family of five with a specialist guide in peak week. Publishing a fake "from" price is how package sites get you on the phone; we prefer to quote the real one the first time.
ON THE GROUND

Daily reality in China

Can I pay with foreign cards in China?
Cards are accepted less widely than visitors expect. MEIAN sets up Alipay or WeChat Pay against your foreign card before arrival, and your guide carries a cash float for the market lanes.
Are your guides employees or freelancers?
Both, but only from a short list we have used repeatedly. A guide you do not click with is replaced the next morning, and MEIAN pays for the swap.
Can you combine several regions of China in one trip?
Yes. High-speed rail links Xi'an to Zhengzhou and Luoyang, direct flights reach Chengdu in an hour, and MEIAN covers 68 cities across mainland China. Multi-region journeys are built as one document with one number to call, not three separate bookings.
When is the best time to visit China?
Broadly spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) for most regions. Yunnan is a year-round highland destination. Winter (December–February) in the north means cold, grey, cheap and empty — snow on Xi'an's city wall comes without a queue. We verify every entry, permit and reservation rule against the current month, not last year's notes.
SAFETY & PRACTICALITIES

The worries people arrive with

Is China safe for foreign tourists?
Violent crime against tourists is rare and Chinese cities are heavily patrolled. The realistic frictions are language, payment apps and museum reservations — exactly the parts a licensed agency handles. Every MEIAN party gets a 7×24 English emergency line for the length of the trip.
What if something goes wrong mid-trip?
One English emergency number, answered around the clock for the length of your trip. A guide who is not working out is replaced the next morning at our cost. A delayed train means the driver plan is rebuilt while you are still on the platform. This is what a licence and liability insurance are actually for.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes — required, and we will not sign off a plan without it. It is priced separately from the itinerary and never bundled invisibly into the quote.
